Why We Gather
So many Christians regard Sunday Church services as the ‘main’ services while they regard the mid-week services (Bible study and/or prayer meetings) as the ‘not-too-important’ services. Well, not many people would actually admit this but they think of it like this. It’s easily noticeable that Churches are very full on Sundays while mid-week services normally have a third of that number. So, what is the problem? Are Sundays more important or sacred than other days?
Jesus said that where two or three gather in His name, He is there with them. He never specified the day or time. We should know that God is omnipresent – He is everywhere at all times. But Jesus said this to show the importance of the believers’ fellowship. There is a ‘very special presence’ of God that is present whenever Christians gather in His name.
We also see from the Bible so many examples of the great things that happened when the believers came together and prayed earnestly. From the release of the Holy Ghost upon the Church to Peter’s miraculous escape from prison, Christians have experienced this ‘very special presence’ of God whenever they gather. And to the glory of God, all these things still happen in this present time.
Dear friends, let us take advantage of every opportunity we have to take part in the believers’ fellowship. We may not always be available for every Church service but if we really know the value of the believers’ fellowship, there are many things we can easily cut out of our schedule to attend some.
